My Clean, Whole, Organic Diet

While I noted for 2011 that diet and fitness wouldn’t be a main focus on FeminintyNOW, I’ve had quite a few questions about my diet.

For reference:

I was formerly a size 14/16 and with good ol’ fashioned diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes went down to a size zero.

Yes, I went from “plus size” to “no size”.

Being a zero was as hard on my body as was being a 14/16, so I gained muscle to a  (vanity) size 2/4  (truer size: 4/6).

I have found this is the size my body prefers to be.

DIET:

No fast food. Period.

No white anything. Period.

No processed food. Period.

NO high-fructose corn syrup.

No soy.

Kefir is in heavy rotation in my diet as is yogurt (usually goat, preferably whole).

NO trans or interestified-fats or hydrogenated/partially-hydrogenated oils.

No bleached or bromated flour.

Organic, hormone-free diary ONLY (I drink cows milk & goat milk –it is so yummy!).

Hormone-free, grass-fed, meat ONLY.

Hormone-free, vegetarian fed poultry.

Lots of eggs from free-range, vegetarian fed, hormone-free chickens.

Organic veggies (those most heavily laden with pesticides in the very least, I did a post on which is which) ONLY.

Organic fruit (Mostly citrus fruits , apples, pears, and berries as they are low-sugar).

I eat all food groups: meat, veggies, grains (whole/brown ONLY), dairy, etc; I practice no dietary restrictions except for certain mercury-heavy fish, farm-raised fish, pork, shellfish, and eel.

I do enjoy coffee –organic and fair-trade. I do not rely on it for energy or alertness! I prefer Ethiopian or Kona (I miss you Hawaii!) coffee.

I enjoy tea as well (Full-leaf good stuff, both caffeinated and herbal).

I also supplement with Vitamin D3 DAILY and (pearl-form) probiotics.

I also take a raw multivitamin for women daily.

I’m looking to drop 50-70 lbs. How long did it take for you to adopt a “clean diet” and how did you manage it financially?

Where there any systems you used to help you continue on?

I am thinking of eating more naturally but I am having a problem starting out because I have been raised mostly on convenience foods. What are some of your favorite recipes that you used to transition. Can you give show me a sample day or week following your dietary standards?

I responded via e-mail, to your question! Please be on the look out for it!

Your diet is very similar to the diet I try to follow. Not saying I eat like this everyday, I get indulgent once in a while. :-)
