While I noted for 2011 that diet and fitness wouldn’t be a main focus on FeminintyNOW, I’ve had quite a few questions about my diet. For reference: I was formerly a size 14/16 and with good ol’ fashioned diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes went down to a size zero. Yes, I went from “plus size” …
Beloved readers, before I get to the nitty-gritty of my personal skin regimen, I want to post a little, golden disclaimer: This is what I have found works for Little Golden Lamb. It is holistic; it is a matter of the inside and the outside. It is constantly changing to suit my skin’s various needs. …
While this blog’s sole focus is no longer hair, it is a vital part of it and thus, I share a bit of my own hair-life on this blog as well. My (official) hair story: I began my hair care journey in high school after stumbling upon Long Hair Care Forum. I’ve always had a …
This would be where you may find out more about me, the author, if you care to, beloved readers. Of course, I can’t divulge everything about myself, being a lady. I will say a few things: I was graduated in Fall 09, Cum Laude, as a member of Pi Sigma Alpha and Golden Key International …

Hi Little Golden Lamb!
(Just had to note that I love how we both have color and animal names)
I’ve stumbled onto your blog by way of the Long Hair Care Forum (which I also stumbled upon for the first time a few weeks ago) and I’ve been reading your articles for a couple days.
I’m usually not one to make posts, or take the time to leave reviews or opinions, but I must say I really enjoy your work (very well writen) and really appreciate the time you take to do what you do. You seem to be very sweet and intelligent and I’d love to have a girl’s day out and share a cup of coffee/tea/what-have-you one day! ^_^
(I’ve also noticed we make the same smilies, and have near parallel hair journeys.)
Looking foward to your next blog…
Best regards!

Your blog is the answer to all my questions – I am tired of only going to the salon to buy products, and know that drugstore products can’t be a ‘dirty word’ as my stylist makes them out to be. Thank you!

I’m glad! You’re right…there are some drugstore products that are real steals for the quality.

Little Golden, there are a few new Drug Store conditioners that I’ve been interested in. I taugh you might be too, there is a new line from a company called North American Hemp Co. They have a nice range of products but what I’m interested in is the Moisturizing line. I know you’d probably hate the bottle design (I do!) it’s a square dark brown bottle with cluttered fonts (different colors too…just yuck).
The product claims; it’s all natural, sulphate free, Paraben and DEA free and vegan. Sounds good right? The product also claims to have Hemp Seed oil, Silk Amino Acids, Hydrolized Silk, Orange Oils, Grape Seed Extracts, Algae and chock full of other good stuff!
Being the PJ that I am I got the product but I have not used it as of yet. Anyways whenever you get a chance please review this conditioner. A fellow PJ and conditioner Junkie would love to know! Thanks!

Thank you for bringing this to my attention! Unfortunately, the nearest purchase locale is about 3.5 hours away from me. ^_^;; I’ve also got some other products I’m using now. I won’t be trying this line soon. THAT SAID, this line sounds DELISH. Thank you so very much for bringing them to my attention!! I greatly appreciate it! I must keep my little, golden eye on them. Thanks for stopping by! ^_^

I relly enjoy reading your blogs. Since starting my healthy hair care journey in june/09, i have been following so many haircare sites and watching countless videos, but i must say little golden lamb is the best blogger ive come across. I really like your style. i enjoy reading your product reviews and how you give each and every product a story of its own. for me what makes your reviews and comments so good is that you are able to include everyone with all hair textures. eg nutural, texlaxed, or relaxed.i am sooooo glad i came across your blog. keep up the good work. Hello,
Your site is wonderful and I truly appreciate you comprehensive reviews of products. Thank you for doing the grunt work to save time (and money) for naturals like myself. But as you can imagine, one can become lost in the shuffle of reviews that you so regularly supply. Can you tell your readers what your regimen is? If you’re wondering, this question was prompted by your recent post about Giovanni’s Direct Leave-In. You said it made it to your list of leave-ins but it was not your holy-grail. Well, this caused great concern and questioning in your faithful reader (that would be me); mainly because my leave-in of choice is the aforementioned brand. You review left me curious as to what could poissbly be better than this product. I’m one year into this natural thing and have the incessant nagging in the back of my head that tells me I have not found the best leave-in. It seems that you have been more successful in doing so. If this is the case can you please share and keep us updated on your hair regimen? What is at the top of your list?
Thanks a bunch,
Faren

Hi Little Golden Lamb!
I am absolutely enjoying your website and I find it is packed with information!!!
I currently have permed, shoulder length hair that is relatively healthy. It does dry out easily without attention.
I would love to know more about your experiences with texturized hair. I am seriously considering growing out and cutting off my permed hair to gain a cute wash and go style using a texturizer. Do you have any advice for me as I consider making this transition?
Also, thanks so much for opening my eyes to the world of organic ingredients!!! Please, keep up the good work!!!

wow. i saw your posts on bglhonline.com but i did NOT know you had you’re own blog!!! THANK YOU so much for your extensive product testing and feedback. i’m noticing that my hair gets tired of the same products quickly (especially if they have cones… cantu moisturizing shea leave-in… i cry over you!). i recently tried the l’oreal moisturizing leave-in conditioning gel. it’s really good! i have type 4 kinky zigzag-gy hair and it really loved this product layered with shea butter.
you are a gem!!!

Thank you! Consider clarifying treatments (baking soda and water or a commericial product) regularly, if you don’t already to help with “hair product fatigue”, which is often build up.

First of all, I am so grateful that you have a blog about hair products and that your hair is like mine (type 4). I have been natural for 5 years now. Before that I always had a relaxer. I knew what worked and what didn’t work on my relaxed hair but my natural hair care journey has not been smooth at all. I’ve tried many things and while some work, most of the time, I just tolerate a product. I made the mistake of getting a Keratin treatment last year and my texture has changed. I am waiting for the treated part to grow out longer so my natural kink will take over again. I just don’t know what I am going to do when then natural kink comes back. I call my hair straight-from-the-motherland kinky (dare I say nappy?) please-put-a-relaxer-in-your-head hair type. I can’t tell if I have type 4a or 4b hair. I would like to wear my hair out (not in two strand twists as I do now) but I don’t want my hair to feel and look dry, crunchy, or like a bush with no curl pattern. What products can I use to achieve this? I thought that you could help me since you have reviewed many product lines and you are a type 4 yourself. FYI, neither Ms. Jessie’s products nor Kinky Curly Curling Custard worked for me. Thank you!

Hello,
Can you recommend a good drugstore brand to dye my hair with that will not damage or cause breakage?
