DevaCurl: B’Leave-in

“Calling all Curls.”

That certainly caught my attention as I stared this product line down at my local Ulta, beloved readers.

I was moving forward last January toward having a chemical-free beauty regimen (and life overall, as much as possible).

This line helped further usher me into that lifestyle change. I’ve moved on to truly “clean” and “natural” products since then, but I was quite pleased with this line, as was my hair, which was natural with texlaxed ends, at the time.

This slightly tinted product as a wet/tacky/slippery feel. It’s rather Aloe Vera jelly-like. It spreads fantastically, which I loved and it is forgiving if you overuse it (just manipulate your curls to remove any slight crunchiness).

That said, it will be hard for those with hair past the 3b mark to really overuse this. My thick 3c/4a hair drank this like it was Miracle Milk.

I had to use copious amounts for my hair to pay it any heed, styling-wise. A little went a decent way in terms of moisture.

To “look pretty” I found myself returning to the container again and again until I finally took to squeezing out a grand glob of it and slathering it on at the beginning of each use.

I was pleased by the shine and pleasant herbal-ish, slightly Bergamont-y scent (it lingers unobtrusively until your next wash).

This was close to $20 at my local Ulta and I went through the container in about 2-3 weeks with a TWA.

I knew as my hair got longer, this simply wouldn’t do as a staple –it would be far too pricey, considering the large amount I had to use to get the results I wanted.

That said, if you have 3b and looser hair (natural or relaxed) a little of this will quite a long way and leave your tresses feeling smooth with a good dose of shine.

Note: This product is glycerin heavy. Those who have anti-glycerin manes or live in a cool climate (or getting through winter) beware!
