Q & A: Favorite Products/Tonya

Beloved readers Tonya, asked:

“Hi little lamb!
I was wondering if you could give me your all time favorite :

moisturizing poo
clarifying poo
neutralizing poo (how often would you use this one?)
moisture deep cond
protein deep cond
moisture leave in cond
protein leave in cond

I’m trying to get my protein/moisture balanced & need help so if you could
help w/ suggesting the products that worked best for you- I would love it!”

Hello to you to, my dear! ^_^

I apologize for the delay in answering, my life has had some rather pleasant, but drastic changes in the last 2-3 weeks.

To answer your question:

1. Moisturizing poo:

I have a review pending for a natural shampoo bar I’ve been using, but beyond that I’d have to see the cleansing creams of the Deva Curl line (review also pending). They are pricey, but absolutely devine. I don’t need to use conditioner after using them! I’d even use them if I went back to relaxing –even more so, actually.

2.Clarifying poo:
I like to mix baking soda with my current shampoo and let it sit on my hair a couple of inutes to clarify, or I use my good ‘ol standby Neutrogena Clarifying Shampoo (Review here).

3. Neutralizing poo (how often would you use this one?)

I only use these when relaxing or texlaxing. I liked ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo (see review). Mizani’s Chelating/Neutralizing shampoo isn’t bad either (I have not posted a review on it, but I liked it the two times I used it, it is pricey though).
3.Moisture deep conditioner:

I like using Burt’s Bee’s Avocado Pre-Shampoo treatment or natural concoctions of honey and various oils right now. You can check out my favorite commercial DCs in this post.

4.Protein deep conditioner:

Any of the DCs from that post, with ApHogee Two Step (only the first step, see my review) added. Usually 1-2 T ApHogee Two Step (Step One) to 1 oz conditioner. I let it sit for 40 minutes then rinse.
OR

I add Neutral Protein Filler (even better, in my opinion, see my review) to conditioners from the same post, in the same ratio.

1. Moisture leave in conditioner:

Currently, I’m using Kinky-Kurly Knot Today or the Kinky-Kurly Curling Custard (reviews pending). I also like the Be Curly leave-in by Aveda (review here). Using coconut or olive oil worked well when I was relaxed. I tending to pick moisturizing styling products while relaxed, to double as my leave in.
2. Protein leave in conditioner:

I’m not fond of these. The only thing I used successfully, that would fit in this category is Giovanni’s Direct Leave-in Weightless Moisture Conditioner (review here). Don’t let it’s name fool you. It is anything but weightless, and had a strong strengthening effect on my hair and on the mane’s of others who have used it.

Whew! I hope that answered your question, m’dear. ^_^

Thank you for reading!
